Mirage Painting
‘Mirage’ explores a distant hope that seems out of reach, a desert cowboy relies on the spiritual hand of the sun star. A spiritual vision that appears a star and cactus before him.
A piece that purely uses only deep sepia brown Sennelier ink without water, quite like the concept of a mirage, to create movement and unique textures through its brushstrokes. Using a method of painting, like an inverted image, where the composition is filled in, leaving space to form the path lines to reveal the composition itself.
This painting was made using Sennelier’s dark sepia shellac ink, a natural resin secreted by a bug from tree trunks. It has a unique naturally reflective shiny surface and translucency that differs from the usual water-based inks normally used.
The original painting is in A3, signed and dated, also available as limited edition prints in A4 and A3 with a limited amount ever made.
